Sunday

Grace and peace from Cambodia, Today was a truly Spirit-filled day. We started our morning by attending the Wesleyan Bible College for church. And I got to preach! I also was able to jam with the band which turned into a mini-concert. (The family in the picture is Kim Su and his wife and daughter. He is the keyboard/guitar player.) God placed the message about feeding the 5000 on my heart. So I spoke on that and had an interpreter (which was a little different). It was something that I will always remember. After the service, one of the pastors asked me if I would accompany him to another service tomorrow night and play some music. And off course I said, "When are you picking me up!" So we are traveling to a town 2 hours away tomorrow night for that event. We saw the land where they are going to build the new Wesleyan Bible College and the border fence project that Linwood Wesleyan (in Souix Falls, SD) help fund. We also visited the "Killing Fields" today. I cannot describe in words the emotions that begin to churn inside of my gut while being around the remains of humanity at it's worst. The people are incredibly freindly here. It was exciting to eat at the Lucky Burger (although I was warned to opt for the chicken burger instead of the "Lucky" one). My luggage has been found...in San Francisco. So maybe I will get it before I leave.

Finally Here!

Grace and peace everyone
We arrived in Phnom Penh at 10:40am Sat. Jan 6th after flying for 28hrs. The flight was great. I had some good conversation with a woman who's husband is a green beret. I also spent about three hours talking with a zen Buddhist monk from Nepal.
Once we arrived in Cambodia, I had the experience of being the only one from our group who'sluggage did not arrive. No worries though, I've got two t-shirts to alternate between.
We met with the leader of the Recovery Center here this afternoon. He shared story after story that broke my heart over and over. While he was talking to our group, I was made even more aware of God's purpose in our trip.
This country is amazing and I am soaking it all in with a grateful heart.I miss my family. Thank you God for Skype.

(i am very tired and i need to sleep so i can type clearer)
peace

thank you!

I want to say a word of thanks to everyone who is supporting The Cambodia Project. I also want to say a special thank you to Coffee Girls for hosting the Sing To Stop Traffik Concert. It was a great night.

Thanks to Peter and Bill and everyone with KC One for the support and promoting the Singing To Stop Traffik night.

Thank you to all of you who donated financially to assist me in making the trip to Cambodia. Your investment will bring light into darkness.

Thank you World Hope (Rachel, Debbie, Jo Anne) for making the trip and for your involvement in global anti-trafficking issues.

Thank you to Pat & BreakPointe for allowing me to talk about the issue and promote the project locally. Also, thank you your investment into this trip and in me.

Thank you to my family. Your love and sacrifice means the world to me. I will miss you while I am gone.

Please continue to be in prayer for myself and the team as we leave next week for Cambodia.
I am very excited to meet Kalouen and connect with her. I am really going with no expectations because I don't know what to expect. I am going with all of your support and encouragement. This will be a blessed endeavor.

where has she gone...

I just finished watching the Lifetime original move "Human Trafficking". While fighting back tears, I watched painfully as the actors portrayed the true human experience of modern day slavery.
I was enraged, sorrowful, and quickly grabbed hugs from my daughters and my wife. This was just a movie, but for too many women it is a painful reality.
What can we do to stop this? What can be done to help these women get their lives back? Again, I am horrified at the level to which sex has been perverted and distorted from it's original design. We must fight this. People must work together to stop trafficking. Please continue to educate yourself and your friends on this issue. Remember that America is one of the leading (if not the leading) countries to fund sex trafficking and slave trading.

it cannot be turned off

I want to take a moment to share with you
something that requires all of our attention.
Over the last two years, I have become
increasingly involved with organizations
and efforts to “help the fatherless and the
widows.”(James 1:27)
One issue keeps coming up and
grabbing my heart without releasing its
hold. This is the crime known as human
trafficking.
“It is the fastest growing form
of international crime, already generating
7 billion dollars per year in criminal
proceeds. There are even reports that
some trafficking groups are switching
their cargo from drugs to human beings,
in a search of high profits at lower risk.”
(UN Office on drugs and crime)
As I listen to stories about girls
that are being sold as sex slaves, my
heart aches for these daughters of God.
Girls as young as five years old are being
exploited and used for the production of
prostitution and pornography.
These girls are promised a
better life. Their parents are told they will
get a good education in a great school.
Then the girls are taken to brothels where
they may see as many as fifty men in one
night. Some of these operations are being
funded by American business men. This is
not just a tragedy. It’s an emergency.
